For by Grace

I can hardly believe another year has flown by.  I remember hearing adults talk about how much time faster time goes when you are an adult but I never believed them.  It took forever to get to Christmas and then forever 'till summer vacation started and then that went on forever and I couldn't wait for school to start again.  Now that I'm an adult time really is different.  I never have time to get all the things done that I need to in any given day.  I am continually amazed at how fast the kids are growing.  It really seems like Jubilee has been here maybe 4 or 5 months and yet she is 9 months old.

I am working on redeeming my time or better yet the time that God has given me.  I am going to work this year on making sure my priorities are what get accomplished and that life doesn't just pass me by because I am squandering my time.  The Bible says, "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."  We all need to be making sure to get accomplished those things that God has asked of us and the rest will fall into place.

I am blogging because I feel guilty about not blogging for so long.  So...in an attempt not to be a bad blogger I will give you a few bits of randomness.

  • My baby is cranky right now because she is nearly ready for bed.  I need to feed her and change her diaper so this post will not be too long.
  • I have been thinking a lot about my New Year's resolutions.
  • I wonder if anybody even reads my blog.
  • We just finished playing a card game that my husband invented.  It needs a little bit of work but it's not too bad.
  • My dog has acne.  Somebody in our house needs to put medicine on it.
  • There are shavings from the pencil sharpener on my floor right now.  I am not exactly sure how they got there but I'm sure I will be the one picking them up.
  • I have a whole container of chocolates that I am trying to share with my family but secretly I would like to hide them and eat them at will.
  • My favorite tea is Red Rose (decaf).
  • My back is hurting right now.
  • I really like the James Taylor song "September Grass."  I really like James Taylor period, he has a very soothing voice.
  • I have to go to the dentist on Monday and I am dreading it.  I HATE the dentist.
  • It's been very nice not being able to go out this week because of the snow.
  • I don't know what we will do for school tomorrow but I will figure it out in the morning.  I like Tapestry of Grace but I am having a hard time with the writing/language portion of things.  I think I need the CD to make better sense of it all.

This was over heard in my kitchen this morning:

Hosanna: Daddy, let's play husband and wife.

Mike: Okay

Hosanna: You will be the husband and I will be the wife.

Mike: Sounds good.

Hosanna: You have to come when I call you!

I think I need to start reading "Created to be His Helpmeet" to her now.

Kids drink A LOT more milk when there is chocolate involved?  We recently inherited a bottle of chocolate syrup from Grandma.  All of the sudden I am faced with buying more milk during the week because we are out.  I am going to have to start cutting them off and it's not going to be pretty.

Well, maybe not quite but it's not going to be long now.  Jubilee is up on her hands and knees.  She doesn't do anything once she gets there but just give it a few days, she'll be going at lighting speed.  Right now she can scoot herself back wards if she's not up on her knees and she can scoot forward if she is sitting up.  I think Jubs will be so much happier knowing that she can get to her toys by herself.  Sometimes she scoots herself back wards but then gets frustrated because she's left everything out of her reach.  Happy crawling sweet girl!

Hosanna is sometimes the funniest girl I know.  Here is a small conversation I had with her a few weeks ago:

Hosanna: "Mom, you should call the mean guy."

Me: "Why would I want to call the mean guy?"

Hosanna: "Because he's nice!"

And just for the record she talks about this mean guy a lot but we have no idea who it is.  I'm wondering if he is just imaginary like her friend Emmy.

Red

By the time I get home this afternoon I'm gonna be red.  I am doing a yard sale this weekend as I was last.  Hopefully by the end of today my pockets will be green even if my face and arms are red.

The kids are all doing well.  The bigger kids are excited to be finished with school.  This summer is lining up to be plenty action packed.  Hosanna and Beth are spending next week at speech camp.  The week after that the entire family is going to church camp.  Then we are home for a week before VBS starts and after that Gabe is going to church camp.

Jubilee is rolling over now very profissiantly.  She is our earliest roller yet.  I don't know why I always get the late rollers but it's nice to have somebody finally be on time with it.  She's the happiest little thing, she very rarely gets upset about anything.  Everybody loves her to pieces.

I'm so proud of Mike for starting his own business.  I am hoping in five years we can sell our house and move where we want to because he can work from home and living near the city won't matter.  He is getting lots of extra work these days which is good because it keeps going into our gas tank.

I have to laugh because the boys, Isaiah especially, are always coming up with things we can win.  Today it was a trip to Hawaii off a bubble gum container.  The problem with these "free" things that we will "win" are numerous.  The problem I could see with today's trip was that it was for a family.  Whose family?  Certainly not ours.  7 airplane tickets and a room and accommodations for 8 people?  I think not.  Even the "normal" 4 person family wouldn't be free but how do I explain this to my kids who are just excited beyond belief at the prospect of winning something so spectacular they could only dream of it?

I did, however, win.  I was blessed with a super nice new (to us) couch from Value Village for only $30.00 :).  It matches our recliners and it simply beautiful.  The ends of the couch recline and there is a secret table in the middle for holding drinks and other things but we won't be letting the kids in on this secret.

Jubilee is starting to fuss because she's hungry and only I can help that one.  I guess I'll have to write more later.
