Even though it’s late I wanted to keep my promise to tell you all our news.  We are adopting!  We have found a beautiful little girl who is 2 and lives in Eastern Europe.  I’ll tell you more about her in the days to come but for now I’ll share her name and her picture.

Meet Lydia

 Lydia3

Tomorrow I hope will be the day I am finally able to let you in on our secret.  I will be able to tell you who the special child is that will spend the rest of his/her life with a family that will love them.  Tomorrow I will be able to share the picture so that you will know better who to pray for.

But for tonight I have clothes to iron for my husband, children to put in bed, and a Bible study to finish.

    See you tomorrow!

1.     I have an obsession with learning to knit socks.  I want to be able to make my family’s socks.  I think the toe up pattern is the way to go but I might be wrong.  I have one sock that I started 3 years ago, it’s not finished yet.

2.     I always knew that I would have a large family.  In high school I said I would have between 8 and 13 children.

3.     I have always wanted to adopt.  My Grandpa and Grandma were friends and neighbors with Harry and Bertha Holt.  My Grandma swapped childcare with them when it was needed.  My mother even dated one of the children they adopted into their family.  So, adoption is very dear to my heart and I can’t wait until our adoption is complete.

4.     I am horrible at interior decorating.

5.     I prefer cats to dogs.  I have spent several years trying to convince myself that I like dogs.  I want to like dogs but I just don’t, I put up with them.  Given the choice I would pick a cat, hands down, every time.

Now it’s your turn.  Leave your blog address in comment section and tell me five things about you.

Both Mike and I come from families that put the dis in dysfunctional.  I try my best to deal with it but sometimes it gets to me.  Today was one of those days.  Really, it’s been building for weeks now.  My parents are not fit to be grandparents and so we don’t have contact with them.  Mike’s dad is totally out of the picture…I’m not entirely sure why.  Mike’s mom wants to be a grandmother but only when it comes to receiving a yearly picture and doing birthday cards.  It makes my heart sad, truly it does.

So today, our Keepers At Home topic was genealogy.  The girls were supposed to make a family tree.  I realized late last week I didn’t know enough about Mike’s family to help the girls complete their tree and because of all the divorces in our family the tree would be more likely to look like a hedge.  Mike called his mom to find out some information that she couldn’t seem to come up with.  While the internet is great I didn’t have time to research things in time for the project so I just had the girls stay home.  I feel bad that they are impacted by failing grandparents despite our best efforts to have things not affect them.

Mike and I are the start of a new family tree.  A family tree with God as the roots and trunk.  A tree that will be strong and live forever…this will be our children’s heritage.

I think this picture makes Titus’ ears look huge.  I love his dopy look.  I just want to run over, pick him up and snuggle him.  But seriously, I think this picture makes him look like he’s ready to take off and fly any minute.
