Today the whole family went to the American Dahlia Society National Show. It was pretty neat. I have never seen so many flowers on display in my life. We have only been interested in dahlias for 2 years now, and will be joining the Snohomish Dahlia Society this year.
Before last year, if you had mentioned dahlias, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you what they were.
Last year I did some computer work for a couple that I work with, and I brought by daughter Elisha along with me for some company. While we were at the couple’s house, Elisha noticed that they had some very pretty flowers growing outside their home.
Elisha found out that the flowers were dahlias and she learned a lot about dahlias that day. The next day I talked with the Diana, the lady whose computer I helped with, and told her that Elisha was very interested in growing dahlias.
Diana gave us three dahlia tubers that year, and two of them actually grew. This year we got a bunch more from Diana and Dave (her husband) and all of them have started to grow. We don’t have blooms yet, but they are close. I will post about those when they get bigger.
