CIMG3276-(2)As most of you know, I have been doing the polyphasic sleep schedule called "Everyman".

This allows me to sleep for 4 hours total a day and have more time to get things accomplished. For those unfamiliar, my sleep schedule is as follows.

  • 9pm-midnight (core sleep)
  • 5am (20 minute nap)
  • Noon (20 minute nap)
  • 5pm (20 minute nap)

Last week was a busy week for us at the house, with Titus our newborn here, and I found that I was skipping my naps.

The first day I was okay, but the second day, I woke up at midnight night cranky and tired. I thought about it though, and it makes sense. Without the 20 minute naps, I am running on only 3 hours of sleep total. It would be just like if I was doing normal sleep and only got 3 hours of sleep. I would be tired and cranky.

It makes sense.

So to all of you out there trying the "Everyman" polyphasic sleep schedule, please remember your naps. They are VERY important and key to succeeding with your polyphasic sleep.

Titus Right after Birth

Wednesday, September 30th 2009, my son, Titus Brodie Silva was born.  He weighed in at 7 pounds and 2 ounces.  He was 20 inches long and very handsome!  The Lord sure did bless us!  Titus Brodie was born at 1:17 am in the morning after 5 hours of labor.  Nancy Spencer, our midwife, delivered Titus.  She has delivered the last 4 of our babies.  She is awesome and I am so glad to have her delivering our babies.

To the right is a picture of Titus right after the birth.  You can also see Hosanna in the picture at the top.  She was supposed to call out the sex of the baby, but was so sleepy that we could not wake her up to do her job.

We are very thankful that Titus is here.  It was very different this time.  Titus is our 7th, but he has definitely been different.

It all started September 29th at 12:30pm.  Grace had an appointment at Nancy’s for a check up.  While at Nancy’s office, Grace started to “Leak” as she says.  In actuality, her water was beginning to leak.  When it started, it wasn’t much, but by the time Grace stopped by CRISTA on her way home, she was leaking so bad that she created a puddle in the CRISTA parking lot.

After a potty break, Grace and the family headed home and I started to pack up my stuff to go home too.

When I got home, I found Mrs. Spurling and her daughter Hannah had already arrived.  Mrs. Spurling had said she would come and help with the delivery while her daughter would take care of the kids.  Mrs. Spurling is practicing to be a doula so she was going to be in the bedroom for delivery.

I called Nancy after I got home and she said she would arrive at our house around 7:30pm.  At this point Grace wasn’t having any contractions, but Nancy said that since her water had broken that it was important to have the baby that night.

At around 7:45 Nancy arrived and shortly after that she broke my wife’s other water sack.  (note: women have two and sometimes three water sacks.  Pretty neat huh.?)  Once the water was broken, Grace started to have contractions.  The contractions were pretty far apart at 5 minutes.

Grace had a hard time with this delivery because her contractions never got closer than 5 minutes apart.  Fortunately Nancy had everything under control and soon we had a bouncing baby boy!  We were also very excited because the baby was born in September.  We already have an October birthday, so it was extra special that Titus was born in September.  We now have birthdays in September, October, November, December, January, February, March, and June.  (that also includes Momma and my birthdays.)

The other AWESOME thing was that Mrs. Spurling and her daughter Hannah cooked us both eggs and toast, with fresh tomatoes.  It was awesome.  I know I already said that, but I really want everyone to know that they were such a great blessing to us.  I just pray that the Lord will bless them ten times more than they blessed us.  (that will be hard, but nothing is impossible with God)

Thank you Mrs. Spurling and Hannah!  Also thank you Nancy Spencer for being our midwife, but most important, thank you Lord for taking such good care of us.  We love you and thank you so much for Titus and our friends.

Below are some more pictures of the Titus birthing action.

Elisha was there for the birth.  She was a blessing to have around.  She sure does love Titus, and Momma.

Titus in Jubilee's arms And this is our sweetheart Jubilee, who was VERY excited about holding her new little brother.  She isn’t the baby anymore, but at least she seems happy still.

Well that is it for today.  It took me a day to get this posted just because life has been so busy.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures.  I will send out emails, and post here in the near future when I get all the pictures up in our Silva~Moose picture album.

Jubilee Amazon Silva This morning Jubilee was running around the house with a curtain rod in her hand charging Mommy and me.

She was having a blast, laughing out loud as we tried to escape her little spear like pokes.  I had to take a picture, and since I wanted to mess a little with Photoshop, I decided to doctor it up a little bit.

Here is my Little Amazon Girl!

American Dahlia Society National Show Today the whole family went to the American Dahlia Society National Show.  It was pretty neat.  I have never seen so many flowers on display in my life.  We have only been interested in dahlias for 2 years now, and will be joining the Snohomish Dahlia Society this year.

Before last year, if you had mentioned dahlias, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you what they were.

Last year I did some computer work for a couple that I work with, and I brought by daughter Elisha along with me for some company.  While we were at the couple’s house, Elisha noticed that they had some very pretty flowers growing outside their home.

Elisha and the Dahlias Elisha found out that the flowers were dahlias and she learned a lot about dahlias that day.  The next day I talked with the Diana, the lady whose computer I helped with, and told her that Elisha was very interested in growing dahlias.

Diana gave us three dahlia tubers that year, and two of them actually grew.  This year we got a bunch more from Diana and Dave (her husband) and all of them have started to grow.  We don’t have blooms yet, but they are close.  I will post about those when they get bigger.

Elisha Sleeping Pretty Last night I decided to sleep all night, just so I would be good for church.  The last few days have been weird schedule wise, so I didn’t stick 100% to my schedule.  I figure I will start again fresh Monday morning.

When my wife and I woke up, she was feeling sick (morning sickness sick).  Then as each of my other children woke up, I found most of them were stuffy and having issues breathing, so we decided to stay home today.

The only one in the house still asleep is Elisha.  Gabriel is back in bed all warm and wrapped in his blanket.  It seems like one of those sleepy mornings.  I think we all want to go back to bed!

Anyway, I got some good pictures of the kids this morning and wanted to share them.

Jubilee asleep Every Saturday morning I get up and with one of the kids help I cook a big breakfast.  We usually have pancakes with strawberries and syrup, with bacon on the side.  Some Saturdays we have french toast in place of the pancakes.

This morning Jubilee woke up early and the breakfast wasn’t finished being cooked yet.  She was hungry so we put her up to the table to eat one of the first cooked pancakes.

She was up to the table for about 30 minutes max and Isaiah said, “Woh look at that.” while pointing at Jubilee.  We all looked over to see Jubilee asleep at the table in one of the worst positions I have ever seen any of my children asleep in.

I carefully picked her up and brought her into the bedroom to snuggle with Momma.

CIMG3256 Most children hate going to bed.  I have 6 kids and none of them like the idea of bedtime and or nap time, but Jubilee is being the best of all our children about bed time.

I usually carry her around for a couple minutes and then I bring her to her crib and put her in.  She lays right down 7 out of 10 times.  She does require a few things though in order for her to lay there without fussing.

  • She needs her glow worm stuffy.  (Hotta is it’s name.) **
  • She needs her blanket.
  • She likes me to rub her back for a couple minutes.

As long as she has the above she does very well.  After a few minutes into the back rub, I walk out (she is usually still awake) and she doesn’t fuss or cry a bit.

I just wanted to blog about my girl.  She is awesome and I love her LOTS.

NOTE:

** Hotta is the name Elisha gave the stuffy.  Elisha says Jubilee called it that, but I have my doubts.  It’s okay though, because even Jubilee has taken to calling this stuffy glow worm thing Hotta.

CIMG3124The Silva’s are packing up the van and getting ready for camp.  Church camp is from Monday July 6th to Friday July 10th.  We all love camp, but it takes a few days to get completely packed up.

We started packing early Friday morning (the 3rd of July) and are still packing up tonight (Sunday the 5th)  As you can see in this picture we were just started, but since then we have almost completely filled the back.

We have everything we will need for a fun time.  We even found out that our fish limit may be higher this year!  Woooo Hooo!

We had a pretty good time packing up on Friday for Camp.  The weather has been good and I got Friday off from work.  You put those two together and you have the makings of a GOOOOOD day.

While we were packing we even took Otter pop breaks as you can see at the bottom.  I included some of our other pictures from Friday.  I hope you enjoy.  Also you are always welcome to come to album.silvamoose.com to see more pictures of the Moose Family.

Well, I better get going.  I need to help Momma finish packing, or I might end up sleeping on the couch tonight.

If I don’t post again before we get back from camp, you all have a GREAT week, and God bless.

I was very excited to take my boys to the second Transformers movie.  We had seen the first one together in the theatre, and it was pretty good.  There were a couple of spots with bad words and a little more flesh than I would like my boys to see, but the majority of the movie was okay for my boys.

I was assuming that the second Transformer movie would be about the same.  I had my reservations in bringing the boys, but it is hard to pass up the very cool robot special effects.  I will tell you now, I should have.

I was very disappointed in the entire movie.  It didn’t take but a couple minutes before there was swearing, and within the first 30 minutes there was more flesh than the entire first movie, along with scenes of two dogs engaging in sexual acts.  Why do you need that in a Transformers movie.  Come on!

The movie was full of swearing and sexually explicit content.  You even get subjected to a man wearing G-String underwear.  The action was good, but the plot was lame and honestly the movie lacked much content.  Even if there was none of the dumb stuff it still would have been a little dry, but I don’t go to Transformer movies expecting much of a plot.

I would have been fine with a movie with no plot and a whole lot of action, but with all the other stuff, (sexual content and swearing) it just isn’t worth seeing.

As a Christian I highly recommend not seeing this movie, and NOT buying it.

I was just surfing around our SilvaMoose SmugMug page again and found a very good Jubilee birthday video.  Her birthday was March 20th, but I think you all will still get a kick out of her birthday cake experience.  Jubilee turned 1 on March 20th and as you all know, that is when the baby gets to have the cake all their own.  They don’t get to eat it all, but they get to eat it however they want.  Usually it is guaranteed to be messy.

Cake, cake, cake, cake !!!!

I hope you enjoy it.  She sure did.
