Today was a pretty good day.

At first I thought it was going to be bad, because I woke up at 5:45am and was going to be running later than I wanted for work.  I awoke to Jessie asking if I was ever going to wake up.  Then as I was opening my eyes she said, "It's already past 5."  At hearing that I sat up pretty quickly, but then she told me that it had snowed and all the schools were closed.  I checked my alarm and it was 5:45.  After having a look outside I decided that driving to work in rush hour traffic in the snow wasn't a good thing, so I opted to work from home.  The good thing about that is I don't have to commute and I could lay back down.

Work started for me shortly after 7am, but before I knew it the family had decided they wanted to go sledding.  I ended up driving the van because I didn't want Jessie to have to drive in the snow.  While the kids were sledding I read a "Community Server" book I was supposed to read for work.  This was good for me because I could be there and still be working.

Anyway the kids had a great time and I got to read without interruptions.  After sledding we came back home and I finished up my work on my computer while the kids did school.  Here is a picture below that Jessie's friend took.

With Momma's and Gabes birthdays coming up soon; Jessie's tomorrow, January 27th and Gabes on the 29th, we decided to go out to celebrate.  We went out bowling.  When we first started planning this trip, my mind was thinking of the old days of bowling.  I was thinking we could get in a few games, have some snacks and it would be a stress reliever.

I was a bit off though.  We had fun, but it wasn't much of a stress reliever.  First of all we had to get shoes for everyone except for Momma and I.  We have our own from way back when we had time to bowl together.  It was a good thing Jessie was there otherwise I would have NO idea what sizes were needed.

The next thing was getting all the bowling balls needed.  This wasn't hard because the kids were in charge of finding balls for themselves.  Well the big kids at least.  This took a little more time then I thought.  The children all wanting to get the best ball spent much time deciding.  You know it is less about weight and usability and more about getting the cool, or pretty ball in Elisha's case.

I think at this point we started to bowl.  Wait, Momma had to input all the names.  She did great and that didn't take too long.  Okay now we are bowling.  Did you know it takes a LONG time to get through 6 bowlers, especially when one of them is Hosanna.  The first ball she and Momma rolled down the lane got stuck half way down.  I had to find someone to retrieve it for us.  After that we helped Hosanna a little more by providing a hefty push, and by the end I was helping her roll the balls down my arms to gain a little momentum.

Okay, now about an hour into the game, and 5 frames we decide Elizabeth would do better with food.  I rushed to the resturaunt at the front of the alley and bought a "Pound O' Fries" and two drinks.  This helped Beth, but slowed our bowling process a bit.  The fries were great, and we were having fun.  The only downside to fries was the greasy hands, but we aren't pro bowlers so it didn't matter too much.

As the game got closer to ending we then had another issue.   Hosanna was getting tired of bowling and was getting distracted by the arcade games behind us.  The children were great and helped us keep an eye on the two youngest girls as they sat in a race care chair watching the video for a racing game.  Elisha and Momma ended up bowling for Hosanna torward the end of the game.  This turned out to be okay and sort of made up for the time we were using just keeping an eye on the girls.

Finally the game was completed.  Not 3 games, not 2, just 1 game a piece for each of us.  I guess I shouldn't complain too much.  At least it ended up being cheaper than paying for two right.

All in all we had a very fun outing and the kids had a blast.  Even though it wasn't stress free, we still had fun.  Praise God for allowing us to have time with our children who are a gift.

I am starting to have a little time to fix some of the mistakes I made on the site.  I think I fixed a bunch, but there is still a little ways to go.  It isn't perfect.  I want to create a couple very nice containers to hold the modules now.  I have some div based containers, but they don't seem to work very well all the time.  I might make a few table based module containers with div inards.  I guess I will just have to wait and see what is the best.

I hope you keep coming back.  I will be purchasing a picture module when we get income tax back.  It will allow me to start the photo gallery again.  I know several of you have asked about pictures.  Hopefully this will make you all smile when it gets done.  For now enjoy the kids blogs.  I am going to try and encourage them to post once a week at least.

They are all linked to RSS, so it is easy to keep up to date.

Thanks all for listening,

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

I just wanted you all to be aware that I do know that I am breaking, or causing the Dad page to look bad.  I am using it as my test page for the containers I am making.  Yes the blue bordered containers.  I should really be messing on a page no one can see.  I might try that some day, but for now please bear with me.  (is that the right bear or is it bare.  Not sure if you know comment below.)

Thanks,

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

I probably should go to bed now.  I have been working tonight on making the web site better looking.  Jessie wanted a banner for her blog page, so I had to rethink my design.  I hadn't made it very easy to change the banner.  I reorganized the layered PhotoShop document I created and sliced it up so that I could easily update the banner and save the image to files I could add to the "Skin" I created for this site.

I am not sure all that makes sense to anyone, but in short, I made the site prettier and easier to change banners.  That should make sense.

In the SilvaMoose home news, Elizabeth is sick.  She threw up in the van this afternoon, and again after dinner.  It doesn't seem to effect her, but we just don't like to see her sick.  If you could all say a prayer for her, that would be great.  Other than that, I think we are all healthy.  Isaiah was saying that his stomach was upset a little, but we weren't sure whether or not it was because he was in the same room when Elizabeth threw up.  I guess we will see in the morning.

That is about it.  I am going to eat the rest of my ice-cream, and then go to bed.

Good Night all,

Okay, Christmas is over, the tree will most likely be taken down today, and half of the presents have been forgotten about.  Sometimes the worse part of the year is that time right after Christmas.   We spend roughly a month gearing up for Christmas and then it is gone in a blink and it leaves that depressed lost feeling.

I am glad though even through those feelings, we as Christians can still find happiness and rejoice in the continual gift the Lord gave us through Jesus Christ.  Isn't that the real meaning of Christmas anyway?   Praise God, He loves us more than we could ever fathom.

On another note, here at the Silva house, we are preparing for a sledding trip today.  Isaiah, Elisha and I are going with the church to a place where there is LOTS of snow.  The children are very excited.  This year Jessie and I decided that the children would have to pay half of the way, which boils down to 7 dollars.  Gabriel decided that he did not want to spend his money on one day of fun, but wanted to save it so he could by a game that would give him multiple days of fun.  I am proud that he thought that all the way through, but I do wish he would come with us.

Momma, is staying home because it is bad for her to go sledding while pregnant, so Gabriel will stay home with her, and the other girls. (Hosanna, and Elizabeth)  I hope they have a good time.  I think they will watch movies and sort of just relax.  There is a part of me that thinks they may be getting the better of the deal.  LOL

Well I have to get going so we are not late for the trip.  Talk to you all later.

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

The Silva's want to wish all our friends and family a Merry Christmas.

The Lord has blessed us a lot this year.  He has provided a house for us, a big 11 passenger van, good health and more than I can type in this blog, or even remember at the moment.

It is 9:07am and we have opened stockings, and eaten breakfast.  We had french toast, bacon, eggs, and orange juice.  Isaiah did the bacon and Hosanna and I did the french toast.  The day is still full of activity.  We still have to read the story of Jesus' birth, open presents, decorate the birthday cake to Jesus, and do dinner.

Hosanna has seemed very taken with all the presents.  I am a little worried because she is sort of being a bear.  She keeps wanting the other kids presents, and whining to open more presents.  We are trying hard to place Jesus at the center of the day, like it should be, but Hosanna is having a hard time looking past the "me" part of Christmas.  Fortunetely sh is only three, so there is lots of time for her to learn.  The other children are doing GREAT.

Well that is it for now.  Merry Christmas !

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

The presents are under the tree, the tree is lit, and the kids are excited about Christmas.  I think Hosanna is the most excited, and mostly because of the presents.  We are trying to make Jesus the focus of Christmas, but she is a little too young to get past the presents.

Today the boys and I took a couple hours to play Age of Empires II together.  It is fun to play video games with kids.  Momma got to watch a movie while the boys and I played.  The girls were watching another movie.  Tonight the Children and I will be watching the last Lord of the Rings movie.  "The Return of the King"  The older kids and I had a blast on Friday night watching the Two Towers.  They enjoy watching movies, and staying up real late, which they don't get to do very often.

Tomorrow will be a work day for the family.  We have lots of stuff to do around the house, and together we can get a LOT accomplished very quickly.  After cleaning we will play some family games together and relax.

Then the BIG day.... Christmas !!

Well from all of us Merry Christmas !

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

... until Christmas!!

Okay I am somewhat happy with the blog look.  I was going to set Jessie up with a blog, but she couldn't think of a name for her blog, so I am waiting for her.  I did make her a page though.

The next step is the Family Album.  I think I am going to use a module from ManDeeps.  It will cost me 50 dollars, but will be well worth it and I won't have to develop anything.  It will include a real neat click to enlarge feature.  I hope it will work with all of our readers browsers and computers.

Well that is it I think.  I will post more later.  Also check Dad's Page before Christmas because I will have a rant there, and post my favorite holiday picture.

God Bless,

MykkMoose (Dad)(Mike)

I finished the home page tonight.  I decided to use the same format as I did on the original Silva~Moose website, with the pictures of the kids on each side of the main rant section.  I updated the pictures though and had some fun with PhotoShop.

I hope you all like it.  If there are any comments please feel free to send them to dad@silvamoose.com.

I will be doing Jessie's blog next and working on how I want to set up the Silva~Moose Family Album.  I have gotten a lot of good input from our friends and family about the photos, and I will try my hardest to find a solution that will make you all happy.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the site.  Also remember that you can add the RSS for this page to your newsreaders and get updates insantly as I post rants.
